The Shenzhen Metro is the rapid transit system for the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong province, China. As of August 2017, the system consists of 8 separate lines, with seven more under construction.
The system opened on December 28, 2004, making Shenzhen the sixth city in Chinese mainland to have a subway after Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Wuhan. The Shenzhen Metro currently has eight lines, 166 stations, and 286 kilometers (178 miles) of total railway in operation.
