The Luohu district government has just incorporated a total of 116 types of government services for individual citizens on its comprehensive new media service platform “iLuohu”, according to a biweekly news conference organized by the government on Dec. 13.
The platform includes the government’s WeChat account, app and applet on Wechat, through which local residents can access government services they need in their daily lives. These services range from applying for birth certificates to registering their retirement.
Also, the government can offer tax services so that business owners need not go to different government departments to apply for them. The complicated procedures and paperwork are now a thing of the past.
The government said “iLuohu” is part of its efforts to promote e-governance that improves government efficiency by harnessing the power of information technology.
Now, all relevant departments of the government have their databases connected with the “iLuohu” platform, on which the government handles more than 1,200 governance-related affairs, offers 43 types of public services, disseminates 11 categories of government information, and interacts with residents.
With the platform in place, 80 percent of government services are now completely accessible online, saving residents considerable time and energy.
The district government vows to further optimize the platform and make the services smarter and more thoughtful in the future.
