The 2nd forum on fashion jewelry industry was held in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, on Sept. 14.
The forum, hosted by the Shenzhen Shuibei Jewelry Group, invited Long Yongtu, former vice minister of foreign trade and economic cooperation and honorary advisor of the platform, and Gaetano Cavalieri, president of CIBJO, a body that unites national jewelry and gemstone associations from over 40 countries, as the distinguished guests of the event.
Long said that rising trade protectionism threatens the global supply chain and economic globalization, and the jewelry industrial platform is an important measure to respond to the challenges.
The forum organized discussions on the following topics: global trade, jewelry industrial trend and the Chinese market, global jewelry trade cooperation and new opportunities for industrial development.
The platform, which has partnerships with 22 countries and regions and 33 international organizations, associations and companies, is committed to promoting jewelry industrial upgrading across the world, and aims to become a platform for China to attract foreign jewelry companies and Chinese enterprises to take part in international competition, according to Wang Pu, vice chairman of the People’s Political Consultative Conference of Shenzhen, top political advisory body of the city.
He said the platform lays a solid foundation for the internationalization of the industry, and has the potential to make Shenzhen an important capital on the world jewelry map.
The jewelry industry is one of the six traditional competitive industries in Shenzhen, and a characteristic pillar industry in Luohu. The district now has about 9,000 market subjects in the whole jewelry industrial chain, and the total annual sales revenue exceeds 120 billion yuan (about 16.92 billion USD).
Liang Rui, president of Shuibei Jewelry Group, said the platform will build a bonded warehouse and jewelry trade center to connect upstream and downstream enterprises.
