A day-time nursing center for the aged in the Cuiping residential community of the Cuizhu sub-district office opened on July 26, which offers the first buffet for Luohu residents above 60-years-old.
On the first day after the center opened, about 60 senior citizens came to enjoy the buffet. “The canteen customizes meals for diners according to their health conditions, and we will try to put more thought into our services,” said Li Zhenjie, an employee of the canteen.
The center can provide for the needs of up to 200 diners, which covers all the senior residents in the community.
The nursing center has a reading room, fitness zone, entertainment zone, medical room and a canteen. It can provide senior citizens with medicine and rehabilitation services, psychological consultation, physical check-ups and entertainment.
Luohu hopes to make the center a model nursing service complex embedded in communities in the district. It hopes that more day-time care centers based on this model will be built.
Luohu now has about 65,000 residents above 60-years-old with permanent residency in the district, accounting for about 9.5 percent of the permanent resident population. Luohu now has three nursing homes for the aged, 11 day-time nursing centers, 10 service providers for home-based care for the aged, and 115 nursing homes for the aged.
